Cultural and Religious Festivities in Ayodhya

In the sacred city of Ayodhya, known as the birthplace of Lord Rama, a vibrant five-day cultural and religious event is set to take place at the Ram Temple. This celebration will commence on December 28 and run until January 2, commemorating the second anniversary of Lord Rama's consecration. The consecration, which occurred on Paush Shukla Dwadashi in 2024, aligns with December 31 this year according to the Hindi calendar. Last year, this significant date fell on January 11, 2025. The festivities on December 31, 2025, will be marked by a grand celebration at the Ram Temple, raising questions among devotees about the temple's accessibility for darshan (viewing) on that day. This report aims to clarify those inquiries.

During the five-day cultural and religious ceremony at the Ram Temple complex, events will be held in honor of Pratishtha Dwadashi. These cultural activities will take place near the temple's exit at Angad Tila, allowing all devotees to join in. The program will kick off on December 28 and conclude on January 2. Consequently, the shrine of Lord Rama will be open for darshan on December 31, as is customary. On this day, devotees will also have the opportunity to witness the adornment of Lord Rama and the अभिषेक (consecration ceremony). For those unable to travel to Ayodhya, the Ram Temple Trust has arranged for the ceremony to be streamed live, ensuring that everyone can partake from home.

First Anniversary Celebrated on January 11th Last Year
According to Dr. Anil Mishra, a member of the Ram Temple Trust, last year's Pratishtha Dwadashi was celebrated on January 11. This year, it will be observed on December 31, with the consecration ceremony scheduled for 9:30 AM. Devotees can visit the temple for darshan as usual, and those who cannot attend in person will still be able to view the ceremony live from their homes, as the Trust has coordinated with Doordarshan for live coverage.

Participation of Renowned Artists
Dr. Mishra also mentioned that visitors to Ayodhya will not only have the chance to see Lord Ram but can also engage in the five-day festivities. Religious and cultural programs will be organized at Angad Tila, featuring performances by many esteemed artists from across the nation. Notable performers, including Malini Awasthi and Anup Jalota, will present devotional songs celebrating Lord Ram.
