A man has been apprehended in Maharashtra for allegedly posing as an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and defrauding a businessman of eight lakh rupees. This information was disclosed by an official on Thursday.
The officer from MHB police station identified the suspect as Nilesh Kashiram Rathod. According to the official, Rathod, along with his accomplices Sachin Krishan Sawant and Karan Singhania, promised to secure jobs in the excise department.
They deceived Prakash Udeshi, a real estate businessman from Dahisar, by assuring him that they would help his son get a position in the excise department. The trio collected eight lakh rupees from Udeshi for this purpose, but after two years without any job offer, he realized he had been scammed. The documents provided to Udeshi were also found to be fraudulent.
Following Udeshi's complaint, a case of fraud and criminal breach of trust was registered against Rathod, Sawant, and Singhania. The official noted that Rathod has been arrested, while Sawant and Singhania remain at large.
