Diogo Jota’s sons will join the mascots at Anfield during the Premier League game between Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
According to a report in The Times, Jota’s sons – Dinis and Duarte – will accompany the starting lineups of the two clubs where Portugal’s Jota played club football in England.
The 28-year-old Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, both passed away in a car crash in July in northwestern Spain.
Saturday’s match will be the first meeting between the two clubs since Jota’s demise.
Fans of both clubs had paid heartfelt tributes to Jota during their respective season openers in August where Jota’s wife Rute Cardoso and her two sons were also present. Wolves supporters unveiled a tifo dedicated to former striker Jota ahead of the match against Manchester City at Molineux. The tifo depicted Jota celebrating a goal for Wolves, along with the words ‘We’ll Remember You When You Walk In Fields Of Gold’.

Jota had joined Wolves on loan from Atletico Madrid in 2017 and made a permanent move to the club the following year. He then signed a five-year deal in 2020 with Liverpool, where he won the league title earlier this year.
Wolves fans also held a round of applause in the 18th minute of the match in memory of the shirt number Jota wore at the club.
Before reigning Premier League champion Liverpool’s first game against Bournemouth, a minute of silence was observed around Anfield. The Liverpool fans also provided a moving tribute to their former No. 20, arranging themselves with red and white placards in order to spell ‘DJ20’ and ‘AS30’ in honour of Jota and Silva during the moment of silence. Fans also delivered an emotional rendition of Liverpool’s famous song, You’ll Never Walk Alone as the two sets of players lined up together, and gave a round of applause at the 20th-minute mark.
