Hapur: A disturbing incident of violence was reported from the Collector Ganj locality under the Kotwali police station area, where a landlord couple was allegedly assaulted and threatened with death by their tenants. The incident has raised serious concerns about tenant-landlord disputes escalating into criminal acts. Following a formal complaint, the police have registered a case against three individuals and initiated an investigation into the matter.
According to the complaint submitted by the victim, Diksha Kakkar, she had rented out her residential property nearly a year ago to Neeta Batla, her son Manu Batla, and his wife Asha Batla, all residents of the same neighborhood. The tenancy had been running without major issues until recently, when Kakkar decided to sell the house. As part of this decision, she verbally requested the tenants on several occasions to vacate the premises so the property registration process could move forward.
However, the tenants allegedly refused to vacate the house, which caused delays in the proposed sale. The repeated refusal reportedly led to mounting tension between the property owner and the tenants, ultimately culminating in a violent confrontation.
The situation took a serious turn on the night of December 24, 2025. At approximately 8:30 pm, the three accused tenants allegedly entered the residence of Diksha Kakkar without permission. According to her statement, they began hurling verbal abuse at her, using aggressive and threatening language. The sudden intrusion and hostile behavior created a highly volatile situation inside the house.
When Diksha Kakkar’s husband, Sanjay Kakkar, intervened and objected to the verbal abuse, the confrontation escalated into physical violence. The accused allegedly attacked both husband and wife, striking them with punches and kicks. During the assault, Diksha Kakkar reportedly lost her left earring, which fell off and could not be recovered amidst the chaos. The physical attack left the couple shaken and injured, adding to the severity of the incident.
Beyond physical violence, the accused are also alleged to have issued explicit death threats to the couple. They reportedly warned that if they were asked again to vacate the rented house, they would kill the landlords instead of merely assaulting them. Such threats have significantly heightened the seriousness of the case, as they indicate clear criminal intimidation and intent to cause severe harm.
The commotion caused by the assault attracted the attention of nearby residents. As neighbors gathered at the scene, the accused reportedly fled the location. Even while leaving, they continued to issue threats toward the landlord couple. The timely arrival of neighbors may have prevented further harm, but the accused managed to escape before law enforcement could apprehend them.
Following the incident, the Kakkar family immediately contacted the 112 emergency helpline. Police personnel arrived at the scene soon after, but by that time, the accused individuals had already fled. The victims later stated that they are now living in constant fear due to the threats they received and the violent nature of the attack.
The Kotwali In-charge Inspector, Devendra Singh Bisht, confirmed that a case has been registered based on the written complaint submitted by Diksha Kakkar. He stated that the police are actively investigating the matter and collecting evidence related to trespassing, assault, and criminal intimidation. Authorities have assured that strict legal action will be taken against the accused once the investigation is completed and facts are fully verified.
This incident highlights the growing need for legal awareness and timely intervention in tenant-landlord disputes. What began as a disagreement over vacating a rented property escalated into a serious criminal offense, underscoring the importance of resolving property-related conflicts through lawful and peaceful means.
