UP: In Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, five people—including a couple and their two kids—were murdered when a passenger train struck their motorbike as they were crossing the railroad track. The incident happened on Wednesday close to the Rauja train station, which is inside the boundaries of the Rauja police station.
They were all five riding the same motorbike.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Dwivedi was reported by PTI as stating, “At approximately 6.30 pm, a passenger train approaching from the direction of Lucknow struck the motorcycle as it reached the down line, resulting in the death of all five occupants on the spot.”
The victims were named by the police as Sethpal (40), his brother-in-law Hari Om (45), his wife Pooja (38), and their two children, ages four and six. The SP said that all of them lived in Vanka village in the Lakhimpur district.
The accident happened as the family was returning to Vanka. The husband and wife were probably on their way back together after visiting Hari Om in Nigohi village, according to SP Dwivedi.
The SP supervised the identification of the dead and made a personal visit to the accident scene. The corpses have been submitted for post-mortem exams, he noted, and he verified that the area’s rail and road mobility has subsequently been completely restored.
