In the glitzy and glamorous world of Bollywood its usually the picture-perfect lives of celebrities that come to the forefront. However what happens behind the surface is a lot more than what meets the eye. One such similar case was with Ranveer Singh. Recently a veteran journalist brought the spotlight on Ranveer Singh speaking about an uncomfortable episode from the early phase of his career. An incident that has since found renewed relevance amid the actor’s professional resurgence.
Bhawana Somaya recalls a tense interview during Bajirao Mastani promotions
Veteran journalist Bhawana Somaya spoke about this incident. Recalling an interview during the promotions of Bajirao Mastani she said she had gone to interview Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone when Ranveer appeared visibly off-colour. “I went to interview Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone for Bajirao Mastani and for some reason Ranveer wasn’t in a good mood that day and his behaviour with me was not okay. Deepika was conscious of this and she was trying to make up. I was also trying to indulge him thinking that I am older I should forgive this behaviour but he was still in a bad mood” she recalled.
Ranveer Singh’s behaviour prompts the journalist to call off the interview
Somaya added that the situation escalated to the point where she decided to call off the interview. “I instructed her team to pack up and told them that they won’t be doing the interview” she shared. However the conversation did not end there. Later she had a candid word with the actor. “I told him my career is more than your age. I have seen many superstars come up and vanish; I have seen them fall down get back up that’s all okay. But whatever has happened today I am not going to hold it against you but tomorrow when your film releases. Don’t think that just because we had an altercation today I will criticise your film. If you have done good work you will receive due credit but if you have not done well then I won’t think about how you will perceive this. I will write what I feel” she said.

Somaya also revealed that the actor later attempted to make peace. “After that whenever I saw Ranveer Singh I would look him in the eye and I wouldn’t speak to him. Then I met him one day he said ‘Ma’am one year has passed now let it go now’. I said ‘Okay done. I will let it go” she added reflecting “All of this keeps happening. In films and politics there are no permanent enemies and no permanent friends.”
The timing of this revelation has come now as Ranveer Singh is soaring high with Dhurandhars success. His film Dhurandhar is inches away from entering the Rs 1000-crore club and its sequel is slated for release on March 19. The film is widely being seen as his comeback after a string of moderate to underperforming films over the last five years apart from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
Ranveer Singh’s career resurgence with Dhurandhar
He is also getting massive appreciation for his role. His co-star Naveen Kaushik has also praised his collaborative spirit. In an interview he said “Ranveer knew that if he tried to play himself as the star of the film people will not be able to give their best work. They need to see him as Ranveer as Hamza… the guy who joins the gang and slowly becomes friends with everyone. That’s what he did on the sets he would always be friendly with everyone. He used this energy to make sure that people felt comfortable with him instead of being intimidated.”
As Ranveer Singh continues to show in his career this incident speaks about how growth humility and time often redefine relationships and reputations in Bollywood.
