How to reach Vaishno Devi?

To reach Mata Vaishno Devi one has to first go to Jammu. Jammu is connected to major cities of the country by air, rail and road. If you are coming from Delhi, Patna or any other state for Mata Vaishno Devi darshan, then come to Jammu first. Katra is 50 kilometers away from Jammu. This distance can be easily covered by taxi, bus or train. It is a walk of about 13 kilometers from Katra to Bhawan. The journey on foot takes about 8 hours.

Darshan at Maa Vaishno Devi Bhawan is available 24 hours a day, but lasts for about two hours during Atka Aarti (morning and evening). The temple is kept closed during the Aarti.

No ticket for darshan, but yatra registration

There is no direct 'darshan ticket' for the darshan of Maa Vaishno Devi, rather you have to get the journey registered, for which you will have to take online registration and RFID card on the official website maavaishnodevi.org. This process is free.

For VIP darshan at Vaishno Devi, you can book Shraddha Suman Special Puja (SSVP) package. Additionally, families of Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, Police and Paramilitary forces can get free VIP pass from Niharika Complex in Katra by showing their valid identity cards.

If you can opt for a palanquin or horse ride, these rides are available at the starting point and Sanji Terrace and drop you straight to the spot where the queues for the temple entrance begin.
