The year 2025 was not easy for the tech industry. The past 12 months saw several major tech outages that severely impacted the digital lives of millions of users. From cloud services to social media and gaming networks, no sector was immune to these problems. Let's look at the five biggest tech outages of 2025 that caused the most disruption.

1. When an AWS Outage Brought the World to a Standstill

The biggest tech outage of 2025 was related to Amazon Web Services (AWS). More than 17 million user reports were filed regarding this failure on October 20th. The problem, which lasted for about 15 hours, affected Netflix, Snapchat, and several major e-commerce platforms, preventing users from accessing their services.

2. A Black Friday for Gamers

Sony's PlayStation Network was down for more than a day in February. Nearly 3.8 million users reported the outage on Downdetector. This outage prevented access to popular games like Call of Duty and Fortnite, leaving gamers quite frustrated.

3. Cloudflare Outage Brought the Internet to a Halt

A Cloudflare issue in November slowed down the internet. A problem in the company's core network caused several essential online services to be down for about 5 hours. During this time, more than 3.3 million users reported being unable to access basic websites and platforms.

4. YouTube Services Also Experienced Multiple Outages

The video streaming platform YouTube was also not spared from outages in 2025. On October 15th, approximately 3 million users reported the platform being down. This problem occurred globally, causing significant difficulties in watching and uploading videos. In the second week of December, thousands of users also reported videos not playing on YouTube.

5. When 'X' Came to a Standstill in India
Elon Musk's social media company X also made it to the list of the top 5 tech outages. More than 2 million reports were received regarding the platform being down on March 10th. The impact was particularly noticeable in India, where more than 600,000 users alone reported experiencing the problem.
