A much-loved craft brewery has announced it will close its doors after nearly 17 years in business, sparking disappointment among loyal customers and the local hospitality community. Long Ireland Beer Company, was one of the early pioneers of the locally made beer boom, but they will be pouring their final pints on New Year's Eve, when the business officially ceases trading.

Based in Riverhead, New York, the brewery has been a familiar presence across the tristate area, supplying bars and restaurants while also hosting regular events at its 9,000-square-foot Pulaski Street taproom.

The venue, located in the heart of Polish Town, occupies a former Agway store that became a popular gathering spot for craft beer fans.

In an emotional statement shared online, the company said years of effort had not been enough to overcome mounting challenges.

Long Ireland wrote: "We have worked endlessly these past years trying to stay afloat, trying to provide a fun and welcoming atmosphere, trying to brew consistently good beer.

"Even with all of our hard work and dedication, we have come to the reality that it just isn't enough."

One patron wrote: "This is so heartbreaking to see. We made so many great memories here and truly loved all the fun events. We'll be stopping in for one last pint and to pick up some apparel if there's any left."

Another said: "Great time and memories there. Very sad to see you go."

Despite the difficult news, Long Ireland has invited customers to help mark its final days.

The Brewery added: "We hope you'll join us in the tasting room and help us say goodbye on a high note.

"We have a few fun events left, so if you've ever raised a pint with us, made a memory here, or felt like part of our extended beer-loving family, now's the time to come by and see us."

The farewell celebration will take place on New Year's Eve, giving fans one last chance to toast the brewery's legacy.

"Closing leaves a heartache no one can heal. Beer and friendship leave memories no one can steal," they said.
