The UK is home to plenty of stunning towns and villages where you can enjoy a wholesome getaway, whether it's simply for the day, a weekend break, or a longer holiday. From historic market towns to unspoilt seaside spots, the nation is full of beautiful places, many of which still await exploration.

Out of the many hidden gems, one off Wales' west coast is definitely worth exploring. Aberporth, a fishing village known for its beaches and wildlife spotting, remains a secret to many people. The gorgeous spot was labelled "underrated" by Love Exploring, which also highlighted some of the village's key features.

Love Exploring wrote: "This popular fishing village lies on the west coast of Wales and boasts two sandy beaches for water sports, offering fun outdoor activities for everyone.

"Walk along the Ceredigion coast to enjoy an incredible panorama of the seaside town and its surroundings. If you get lucky you might even spot a dolphin or orca swimming offshore."

The village's two sandy beaches, Dolwen and Dyffryn are located very close together, just seperated by a rocky headland. However, both are completely unique to one another.

Swimmers would absolutely love Dolwen. The beach located on the western bay is particularly popular for sunbathing and swimming, with RNLI Lifeguards patrolling to area during the main summer period.

Dyffryn, on the other hand, is perfect for families, including those with furry friends, as the beach is open to dogs throughout the entire year.

One visitor wrote on TripAdvisor: "We have recently stumbled across this beautiful beach when driving from Harlech .. and it's become a firm favourite to visit with the dog ... gorgeous clean flat sand, sunsets, sand dunes and mountain views cannot be topped in my opinion."

Abperoth is also located in Cardigan Bay, which is home to the UK's largest population of Dolphins, meaning you'll likely get to spot a few in their natural habitat.

According to Visit Wales, there's a section of the Coast Path leading from Aberporth that is wheelchair-friendly, meaning no one gets to miss out on its beauty.
