Infosys Raises Entry-Level Pay: After facing massive backlash for its mass layoffs of hundreds of freshers from its Mysuru training campus Indian IT giant Infosys has made a significant decision to increase entry-level salaries. The IT company has raised entry-level salaries to Rs 21 lakh for certain roles in order to attract digitally native talent who can strengthen its Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities. A social media post which is verified by Moneycontrol says that Narayan Murthy’s company is hiring engineering and computer science graduates and offering them compensation up to 21 lakh per annum. Why Is Infosys Offering Rs 21 Lakh Salary The company has raised entry-level salaries of Specialist Programmer L3 (Trainee) with an annual salary of Rs 21 lakh Specialist Programmer L2 (Trainee) Rs 16 lakh and Specialist Programmer L1 (Trainee) with Rs 10 LPA with a 1 lakh joining bonus. As per reports these employees will be hired through the campus recruitment process and some off-campus drives. According to Infosys group CHRO Shaji Mathew the company is following the AI-first approach. “Our early‑career hiring combines campus and off‑campus drives and we have expanded opportunities in the Specialist Programmer track with packages up to ₹21 lakh per annum” he said. The ‘up to 21 LPA’ figure does not reflect the overall reality. In our campus of around 2000 students no one was hired at 21 LPA approximately 15–20 students received offers at 6 LPA and only about 5–10 students were offered 11 LPA. reality is different @Infosys https://t.co/JdWRzzlj9X — Aniket Sahu (@aniketsahu_115) December 27 2025 How Did React On Infosys Decision? It is to be noted that the Indian IT company has long been criticised for low fresher pay. It has not revised the minimum pay structure instead the maximum salary for selected entry-level positions has been raised to Rs 21 LPA. The entry-level salary starts from Rs 3.5 lakh per annum. The news that Infosys is raising entry-level pay has gone viral on the internet with some people praising the IT company for hiking fresher salaries. Some users aimed to clarify that the increase has not been applied to all entry-level roles. “The ‘up to 21 LPA’ figure does not reflect the overall reality. In our campus of around 2000 students no one was hired at 21 LPA approximately 15–20 students received offers at 6 LPA and only about 5–10 students were offered 11 LPA” wrote an X user. “Its kind of lollypop but in reality nothing has been done. As its for an L3 position” another user wrote. “Inaccurate information. Infosys has multiple roles for freshers some roles now pay upto 21LPA. There are still some roles that pay less than 5 lakhs” wrote the third user. “I think this applies only to niche tech skills. The rest will still get hired at average pay” another user reacted.
