The first match is between Rajshahi Warriors and Dhaka Capitals on 27th December. Before the Dhaka Capitals match, the team’s assistant coach Mahbub Ali Zaki fell unconscious on the field, which put the Dhaka Capitals team in trouble. Before the match, Zaki was rushed to the hospital from the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. However, he could not be saved at the hospital.

The cricket world was shocked when the assistant coach of a team in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) died before a match. BPL team Dhaka Capitals assistant coach Mahbub Ali Zaki passed away minutes before the start of the match. Everyone was shocked by the news that he might have suffered a heart attack, due to which he might have died.

Hospitalized by ambulance

According to ESPN, the Dhaka Capitals team was training at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium ahead of the first match of Bangladesh Premier League 2025. At this time, Mahbub Ali spoke about the team’s preparations and participated in the pre-match warm-up on the match day. However, during the final preparations, he suddenly collapsed on the field. He was given immediate medical attention and CPR. However, the veteran player died during treatment at the hospital.

“Dhaka Capitals assistant coach Mahbub Ali Zaki fell ill during practice and collapsed on the field. He was immediately administered CPR and rushed to hospital,” an official Dhaka Capitals statement said.

Dhaka Capitals posted on their social media handle, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing away of the beloved assistant coach of the Dhaka Capitals family after suffering from heart disease. We are deeply saddened by this irreparable loss. May his soul rest in peace and our deepest condolences to his family.”
