An expert has tried several ways of making cheese toasties, and one came out on top as the most delicious. Cheese toasties are a classic and easy meal for Brits to make for lunch. Paired with a delicious tomato soup, it really is one of the most heartwarming meals you can make on a cold winter's day. While it is easy, there are certainly ways you can elevate this classic meal, including this delicious method.

One nutrition expert with formal training in the culinary arts, Sara Haas, shared five methods she tried for making cheese toasties and revealed which one was the tastiest. Writing for All Recipes, she revealed that these five recipes resulted in the most hype amongst the publication's readership, so she decided to test all of them. The one that came out on top involves garlic amongst other ingredients, and proved to be the best, and she praised it for its "simplicity".

The cheese toastie that was her winner is the Garlic Salt Hero. This, as the name suggests, simply involves adding a pinch of garlic salt to your grilled cheese.

Garlic and cheese are famously two foods that go well together, so it's natural that this cheese toastie would be a winner. Simply sprinkle the garlic salt over the cheese before or after you melt it to add an extra dash of flavour.

Garlic salt is a simple mix of salt and dried garlic powder, and it adds something special to many dishes. The food expert said of this trick: "It was super crispy and buttery, like garlic bread grilled cheese. It's delicious and in my opinion, the best hack on the list."

She is not alone in thinking this hack is amazing. On Reddit, several people shared how they give a garlic flavour to their cheese toasties.

One person wrote: "I mix it in with the butter on the outside. So good and makes the whole kitchen smell amazing."

Another said: "My son's girlfriend uses herbed butter to make grilled cheese and it totally blew us away! It was delicious!"

A third shared that they "always" add garlic powder or garlic salt along with some red pepper flakes.
