Gmail Address Change: The feature that millions of users have been eagerly waiting for has finally been rolled out by Google. Years ago, many people created Gmail IDs with names like Coolboy or AngelPriya in their childhood, but as they grew older, these kinds of names in their Gmail IDs started causing embarrassment when sharing their email addresses with others. To address this problem, Google has introduced a new feature that allows users to change their Gmail address.

Who can change their email address?
According to a report by 9to5Google, whether you can change your address depends on how the account was created.

Third-party accounts: Users who created a Google account using a non-Google email address (such as Yahoo or Outlook) will be able to update their linked Gmail address.

Standard Gmail accounts: If you think all accounts are eligible, that's not the case. Google's support guidelines indicate that accounts with @gmail.com addresses may still face some limitations.

This rollout was first spotted by the Google Pixel Hub group on Telegram. Google has clarified that while you can change the primary email address used for logging in, the old address will remain associated with the account to prevent any data loss.

Gmail Feature: Will you get the update?
Google is gradually rolling out the ability to change account handles, but this feature is not yet available to everyone. To check if you have received this feature, you need to follow these steps:

Account Settings: Log in to your Google account on a desktop browser.
Personal Information: Click on the Personal Info tab in the left navigation panel.
Email Settings: In the Contact Info section, select Email and then tap on Google Account email.

Verify Eligibility: If the system doesn't allow you to open the settings, it means that the username change feature is not yet available for your account.
