Gorakhpur: In Gorakhpur, Samajwadi Party leader Amarendra Nishad was shot by his relative, in which he narrowly escaped. Amarendra Nishad has accused his cousin, Ravindra Nishad, of firing the shots. Amarendra Nishad is the son of late Jamuna Nishad, who was a minister during the Bahujan Samaj Party rule in Uttar Pradesh. He informed the police about this incident. Police have registered a case under sections 109 (attempt to murder) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Justice Code and have taken the accused into custody.
According to the FIR, complainant Amarendra Nishad said that at around 2:30 pm on Tuesday, he was standing at his door when Ravindra Nishad, son of Ganga Prasad Nishad, shot him with the intention of killing him. The bullet narrowly missed his chest. Amarendra Nishad told that after this the accused threatened him and said that he was saved this time, but he will not be saved next time. The matter is under investigation.
Amarendra Nishad had contested the 2022 elections from Pipraich assembly seat in Gorakhpur district on Samajwadi Party ticket, but he lost to BJP's Mahendra Pal Singh by a margin of 65,357 votes. In a similar case, earlier this month, a teacher at Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh Muslim University was shot in the head by unidentified miscreants, officials confirmed. Proctor of Aligarh Muslim University, Professor Mohammad Wasim Ali, said that Rao Danish Ali, a teacher of the university's ABK School, was shot in the head, after which he died. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Neeraj Jadaun told ANI that two unidentified men shot Rao. The matter is under investigation and a search has been started for the attackers.
