New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 50th meeting of PRAGATI as it marked a significant milestone in a decade-long journey to boost the economy. PRAGATI is a platform that helps speed up projects as well as review them. It also coordinates between the Centre and the States.
PM reviewed five important infrastructure projects across several sectors like road, railway, power, water resources, and coal. The cost of this project is more than Rs 40,000 crore.
Modi also emphasized the PM SHRI scheme and urged that the scheme’s implementation should be oriented rather than infrastructure-centric. He also wants the Chief Secretaries to monitor the PM SHRI scheme, as the scheme will set new benchmarks in the government schools.
It was Gujarat’s CM who introduced a technology-based SWAGAT platform (State Wide Attention on Grievances by Application of Technology). It solved the public grievance with discipline and transparency.
After SWAGAT’s success, PM launched PRAGATI, which works at the Centre with the same spirit. It addresses grievances on one platform for review, resolution, and follow-up.
Since 2014, a total of 377 projects have been reviewed under PRAGATI, and with 94 per cent success, 2958 projects’ issues have been resolved, reducing delays, costs, and coordination failures.
The Prime Minister said that as India moves at a faster pace, the relevance of PRAGATI has grown further. He noted that PRAGATI is essential to sustain reform momentum and ensure delivery.
PRAGATI is a accelator for India to reach the goal of Viksit Bharat @2047 as these mechanism helps the social sector at a high level, like the Chief Secretary.
“PRAGATI@50 is not merely a milestone; it is a commitment. PRAGATI must be strengthened further in the years ahead to ensure faster execution, higher quality, and measurable outcomes for citizens,” PM Modi said on concluding the meeting.
The Cabinet Secretary showed a brief presentation on highlighting PRAGATI’s achievements and how it reshaped India’s ecosystem on the occasion of the 50th PRAGATI milestone.
