Helen Flanagan has revealed she was involved in a car accident in the countdown to New Year's Eve. On Wednesday (December 31), the former Coronation Street star opened up about her horrific ordeal on Instagram, reassuring her followers: "It could've been a lot worse."

Dressed in pink PJs as she nursed her morning coffee, Helen shared how she was feeling ahead of the festive celebration. She admitted that she was feeling "deflated and "rubbish" before she recalled the incident to her loyal fanbase. The mum-of-three shared: "I crashed my car yesterday.

"It was fine, could have been a lot worse. It's just a hassle, because I planned to go to Scotland. I crashed into another car, and it was totally my fault. I can't drive my car, the bumper is hanging off."

Her update comes after the actress shared her struggles as a single mum, giving fans an insight into life co-parenting her children. She admitted that her two youngest children were too young when she and her ex, Scott Sinclair, went their separate ways, explaining that her eldest daughter can become "moody" when switching between the two households.

Helen explained: "What I find probably most difficult is with Matilda, because she's the eldest. So me and her dad broke up when she was seven, and I feel like Delilah is just so oblivious she doesn't care.

"Charlie doesn't care, he was one. But Matilda is sensitive, and she takes everything very much in. And every single time that I get her back, she's in a mood with me. She's really moody. She's really sassy."

The I'm A Celebrity star added: "I expect it because I know what it's like, and I think it's almost like she feels like I'm kind of disowning her in a way when I've not got her a, and it's not.

"Regardless of mine and her dad's relationship, I always want her to have a relationship with her father because I think that's good for her. And regardless of everything that goes on, I always tell her that her dad loves her and that she must love her daddy. It's totally separate."

Helen then went on to reveal that she is planning to get her daughter a phone so they can communicate when she is at her dad's house.

She explained: "I said to her, 'Did you want mummy to FaceTime you?' and she was like, 'Yeah, I did'. So we're getting her a phone anyway. She wants to go choose it, and so we're gonna go do that."
