A good news has emerged for the people living in Delhi. In fact, to create 1100 Ayushman health centres, the government has decided to open around 400 centers in MCD buildings and dispensaries. In the populated areas, Ayushman Health Centers will be opened in vacant schools and community centers so that people can get health facilities near their homes.
According to reports, 250 Ayushman Health Centers are going to be opened by coming March. Most of these centers will be in community centers apart from vacant and closed school buildings. According to MCD Medical Aid and Public Health Committee Chairman Manish Chadha, the previous government had opened mohalla clinics which were useless.
Giving information about Mohalla Clinic, Chadha said that treatment was given for 3 minutes and neither was medicine available. Now Delhi Government in collaboration with Central Government is opening Ayushman Health Centre. 1100 centers are to be opened, in which MCD will also open these centers with the help of Delhi Government.
All the Ayushman Health Centers that are going to be opened will be in permanent buildings. There are many buildings of MCD schools which are lying vacant and there are also some community buildings which are being underutilized. Ayushman Health Centers will be opened at these places. According to the Chairman, there are 122 community centers which are either vacant or have negligible bookings.
Assistance is being received from Delhi Government to open health centres. The government is helping at the rate of Rs 25 lakh per centre. A fund of Rs 12 lakh is being given for distress purchase. A fund of Rs 2 lakh is being given for the purchase of furniture and other items. The discretion of the primary health center remains with the corporation. With the opening of these centres, the primary health infrastructure of the corporation will be strengthened and those people will get easy treatment near their homes. 12 types of health check-up and counseling services are available free of cost in these centres.
