The prices of piped natural gas (PNG) for domestic use have been reduced. Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the country's largest domestic gas distributor, has announced a reduction in PNG rates. This will provide relief to consumers in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, and the entire NCR region who use piped gas for cooking. A reduction in CNG rates is also expected soon. CNG prices may be reduced by Rs 2 to 3. However, there has been no change in the price of domestic LPG gas cylinders. Meanwhile, the price of commercial gas cylinders has increased by Rs 111. The price of a 19 kg commercial gas cylinder has now reached Rs 1691.50. These new LPG gas cylinder rates came into effect from January 1, 2026.
In a tweet, Indraprastha Gas Limited stated that from the new year, domestic piped gas consumers in Delhi NCR will benefit from a reduction of Rs 0.70 per standard cubic meter in pipeline gas prices. This could result in savings of Rs 50 to Rs 150 per month for consumers, depending on their domestic consumption.
IGL customers will also benefit from CNG price reductions in several cities across NCR and Uttar Pradesh. The CNG rates were reduced from 6 AM on January 1, 2026.
Karnal and Kaithal: Rs 1 per kg reduction
Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, and Shamli: Rs 0.5 reduction
Rewari: Rs 1.0 per kg reduction
Kanpur, Hamirpur, and Fatehpur: Rs 0.5 reduction
Ajmer, Pali and Rajsamand: Rs 0.5 reduction
Banda, Chitrakoot, Mahoba: Rs 0.5 per kg reduction
Oil companies have increased the price of commercial LPG cylinders by approximately Rs 111 (7 percent) from January 1. According to Indian Oil, a 19 kg commercial gas cylinder will now cost Rs 1691.50 in Delhi, the highest price in six months. In December, the price was Rs 1580.50. The increase in commercial gas cylinder prices in the new year could impact the cost of food and beverages at hotels, restaurants, roadside eateries, and other food establishments. Food delivery services like Swiggy and Zomato may also become more expensive.
