BSNL 3G Shutdown: India’s government telecom company BSNL is now planning to gradually shut down its 3G network. For a long time, 3G was the mainstay of BSNL’s service, but now the company has built a wide 4G network across the country. With the installation of over 1 lakh 4G towers, BSNL is now in the process of phasing out 3G.
For many years BSNL provided its services on 3G. This was important for customer connectivity from rural areas to small towns. Recently, the company has made a rapid expansion of 4G services, paving the way for the removal of 3G.
According to reports, BSNL is now planning to end its annual maintenance agreements (AMC) with manufacturers like Nokia and ZTE. This step of BSNL is considered important as the government has already directed private companies to remove Chinese equipment.
BSNL will not end 3G altogether. 3G services will be phased out first in areas where 4G is already present and performing better. Gradually similar changes will be brought in other areas also.
BSNL does not want to remain limited to only 4G. The company has clarified that it also plans to introduce 5G services in the future, so that customers will benefit from faster internet and better network experience.
Customers with older mobile handsets may face challenges due to the end of 3G services. But for those who have 4G-supported smartphones, this change will improve network quality and speeds.
