The Board of Control for Cricket in India has taken a big decision regarding the Indian women's cricket team. The team is going to get a new strength and conditioning coach soon. This coach will be appointed after the Women's Premier League (WPL 2026). This responsibility will be taken by a veteran of England. After WPL 2026, the Indian women's team is going to tour Australia. The team will get a new strength and conditioning coach from this tour.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has decided to appoint Nicholas Lee of England as the new strength and conditioning coach of the team. She will join the team after the end of the Women's Premier League 2026. This year WPL will start from 9th January and run till 5th February. Immediately after this, the Indian women's team will leave for Australia tour, where series of different formats will be played from 15 February to 9 March. A source told PTI, 'After the WPL, Lee will take over as the new strength and conditioning coach of the Indian women's cricket team.

Nicholas Lee has a lot of experience

Let us tell you, Nicholas Lee has long experience in cricket and elite sports. He himself has been a former first class cricketer, where he scored 490 runs in 13 matches. Recently he was working with the Gulf Giants team in the UAE ILT20 League. Earlier, from January 2024 to December 2025, he held the responsibility of Strength and Conditioning Coach of Afghanistan cricket team. He was also the head of physical performance in Bangladesh Cricket Board from March 2020 to January 2024. At the same time, he was associated with the Sri Lankan men's team from October 2016 to March 2020.

At the domestic level, Lee served as lead trainer at Sussex County Cricket Club from March 2012 to September 2016 and before that was assistant trainer from January 2010 to March 2012. He is a graduate from Anglia Ruskin University. This appointment of Lee is special for the Indian women's team because the Australia tour will be challenging. His expertise is expected to bring new energy to the team's fitness and performance.
