Islands that are a 50-minute flight from the UK could be getting another route from easyJet. The Bailiwick of Guernsey is in the Channel, comprising the main island of Guernsey, Alderney, Sark, Herm, and smaller islets, with its capital at St Peter Port.

The States of Guernsey told the BBC that it is in talks with easyJet to launch a route to the UK, saying it is also in discussions with Loganair.

easyJet said: "easyJet is always looking at new opportunities to expand its network and choice of destinations, however, we have not confirmed any new routes at present."

The second-largest of the Channel Islands, Guernsey, is truly a region renowned for its tranquillity, making it a natural gem. It is also known for its friendly people and its world-renowned dairy herd, which contributes to the island's overall charm.

The islands offer unparalleled coastal views, with an impressive 27 beaches to choose from, as well as exhilarating cliff walks and hikes, which are a cornerstone of the island's culture.

The island of Guernsey boasts a total of 28.5 miles of coastal paths, offering many excellent hiking opportunities, including the most popular, the Guernsey Circular.

It is also a delight for history lovers with top attractions to explore, including the German Occupation Museum, Castle Cornet and the Hauteville House - where Victor Hugo wrote many of his masterpieces.

Guernsey's many award-winning and highly acclaimed restaurants are also a major draw for tourists, offering mouthwatering options of fresh and local seafood.

This comes after easyJet announced a host of new locations from the UK including:

  • Newcastle to Antalya and Dalaman in Turkey, Rhodes and Corfu in Greece, Faro in Portugal, Malta, Prague in the Czech Republic, Reus in Spain, Nice in France, Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt, and Enfidha in Tunisia - from March 22
