Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again found himself at the centre of social media controversy after an incident involving Grok, the AI chatbot on social media platform X.

In recent days, an unusual online trend involving Prime Minister Modi has gone viral. Users on X began experimenting with Grok by tagging the AI chatbot under an image featuring Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and the Speaker of India’s lower house, the Lok Sabha.

In one post, a user asked Grok to “remove the illiterate person from the picture.” In response, the AI chatbot removed Prime Minister Modi from the image. In another similar request, a user asked Grok to remove the “foolish person” from the same image. Once again, the chatbot responded by excluding Modi.

Screenshots of Grok’s responses quickly spread across social media, with users sharing memes and making sarcastic remarks. Many described the episode as embarrassing for the Indian prime minister, while others found the situation humorous.

Supporters of Narendra Modi, however, expressed anger over the incident and criticised the platform, accusing it of bias and disrespect toward the country’s leadership. The controversy continues to trend online, with debates ongoing over the role of artificial intelligence, free expression, and political sensitivity on social media platforms.
