In a significant move, the Mumbai Indians have appointed Kristen Beams as their spin bowling coach for the upcoming 2026 WPL season, aiming to enhance their bowling lineup with her expertise.
Beams, a former Australian leg-spinner, was instrumental in Australia's World Cup successes, ranking as the third-highest wicket-taker in the 2017 ODI World Cup. Her career includes participation in 1 Test, 30 ODIs, 18 T20Is, and 45 WBBL T20 matches before transitioning into coaching.
In addition to her playing experience, Beams has an impressive coaching background, having worked in the WBBL and The Hundred, served as the coach for the Australia Women's U19 Team, and held positions at Cricket Australia and Cricket Tasmania.
"Joining the Mumbai Indians is an amazing opportunity, especially to work alongside Jhulan Goswami, a true legend of the sport. The culture here is remarkable; they have built a winning environment over many years, and the sense of family is palpable. This team is incredibly close-knit, and as a coach, that’s exactly the kind of atmosphere you want to be part of. I’m excited to contribute to a team that knows how to win," Beams shared in a video on social media.
