Four people have been hospitalised after a car crash near Jeremy Clarkson's pub in Burford, Oxfordshire, on New Year's Day. The accident happened between the A40 and B4047 near Clarkson's pub, The Farmer's Dog, at around 4.40pm on Thursday, January 1. Emergency services attended the scene as fire service personnel assisted paramedics in providing emergency medical care to the casualties.
Thames Valley Police confirmed to Oxford Mail that four occupants of both vehicles sustained serious injuries and are receiving hospital treatment, and added that no arrests have been made at this time. Investigating officer PC Craig Ridgley, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: "I would ask that anyone who was in or near the area in which this collision took place, to get in touch with us if you saw anything or have any information.
"If any motorists in the area have dash cam footage, please check if it has captured anything, as it could help our investigation.
"You can contact the police by calling the 24-hour non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 43260000848, or by making a report online."
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service alerted drivers to the crash and road closure after two fire engines from Witney and Burford fire stations, alongside a specialist rescue unit dispatched from Kidlington.
A spokesperson for the service said: "Due to a road traffic collision, the A40 is currently closed outside The Farmer's Dog pub near Burford and the roundabout with the B4047.
"Please expect significant traffic disruption in the area and plan to use an alternative route."
Clarkson's pub opened up in 2024, and has been a huge success with locals, bringing in punters from around the country after vowing to sell British produce to help support farms.
The pub has been featured in the latest series of Clarkson's Farm, which follows the Top Gear host as he runs his Diddly Squat farm, as well as producing Hawkstone lager and cider.
