The famous saint of Vrindavan, Premanand Maharaj, is known for his intuitive thoughts and deep spiritual understanding. He talks on topics like life, devotion and death in such a way that even the common man can easily connect with him. Recently, during a private conversation, he answered a very important and emotional question to death, which forced the listeners to think deeply.
A devotee asked him what should be done so that there are no regrets at the time of death. This question comes to the mind of every person at one time or the other, who thinks about the meaning and end of life. Let us tell you what answer Premanand Maharaj gave to this question.
‘Remembering God with every breath’
In answer to this question, Premanand Maharaj said that practice is very important for a death free from regrets. This practice should either be done from childhood, or if the age has advanced, life should be managed in the time that is left. He clearly said that every moment of life is very precious and it should not be wasted just like that.
According to Maharaj, the simplest and most effective way to give right direction to life is to remember God with every breath. He said that if a person practices chanting the name of the Lord in every breath and exhalation, then there is no confusion or fear in life. Premanand Maharaj told that if the name of God is chanted throughout life, then the same remembrance will happen naturally in the last moments also. At that moment death will not seem scary, rather it will feel like a celebration. He called it “Death Festival”.
make good use of the present moment
Premanand Maharaj also warned that if a person has been immersed in wrong conduct, selfishness and sin throughout his life, it is very difficult to suddenly remember God at the last moment. The way life is lived, the mind goes in the same direction in the last moments. Maharaj emphasized that we should spend the present time in bhajan and remembrance. No one knows which breath will be the last breath. Neither myself nor my family or loved ones are aware of it. Therefore, live every breath as if it is the last. Keep chanting the name of God every moment, so that the mind remains pure and the purpose of life can be fulfilled.
A life free from regrets is true success.
According to Premanand Maharaj, if God is remembered in the last moments, then there will be neither fear of death nor any regrets about life. Such a person becomes free from the cycle of birth and death and his life becomes truly meaningful. His message is not only spiritual but also gives a simple lesson on living life in the right direction. Devotion, remembrance and good deeds are the only path which leads a man towards a peaceful mind and carefree death.
