As soon as the winter season arrives, a hot cup of tea becomes people’s first choice. Amidst the cold winds and fog, tea not only warms the body but also provides many health benefits. According to experts, consumption of tea in limited quantity is beneficial for both body and mind in winter.

The biggest advantage is that tea provides instant warmth to the body. In cold weather, when the risk of catching cold increases, tea with ginger, cardamom or cinnamon helps in keeping the body temperature balanced. This can also provide relief from cold and cough.

The anti-oxidants present in tea strengthen the body’s immunity. Green tea or herbal tea is especially considered helpful in fighting infections. There is a possibility of weakening of immunity in winter, in such a situation consumption of tea can prove beneficial. Apart from this, tea also helps in reducing mental stress. It is common to feel lethargic and tired during cold weather, but the caffeine present in tea (in limited quantity) is helpful in refreshing and increasing concentration.

However, experts also advise that excessive consumption of tea can be harmful. Two to three cups of tea a day is considered sufficient. Drinking too much tea can cause problems like sleep, digestion and headache. Overall, tea is not only an easy way to keep the body warm in winter, but it is also beneficial for health if consumed in the right quantity. So enjoy tea in cold weather, but do not forget to maintain balance.
