Trump: Citing growing losses on both sides and claiming that economic pressure on Moscow is starting to have an impact, US President Donald Trump said that an agreement to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine is still feasible.

Speaking to reporters on Air Force One on Sunday, Trump said that recently published statistics highlight how urgent it is to put an end to the bloodshed. He said that around 27,000 troops had been slain the previous month and that “30,000 soldiers were killed this current month.”
Trump said that he is optimistic but does not set timelines. In reference to a potential accord, he said, “Hopefully in the not too distant future.”
Trump said that preliminary information was ambiguous in response to rumors that Ukraine could have targeted Russian President Vladimir Putin’s home. “At the time, nobody knew,” he claimed, adding that further investigations revealed the assertion was false.
Trump said, “We don’t believe that happened.”
According to Trump, the US is no longer financially burdened by the conflict. He contrasted his strategy with the Biden administration’s by saying, “It’s costing us nothing.” “We are now paid after Biden donated $350 billion.”
He said that trade and resource agreements, such as those involving rare earths, are helping the US recoup expenses. “A large portion of that money will be returned,” he said.
Senator Lindsey Graham subsequently said that tariff pressure and sanctions are harming Russia’s economy and may compel Moscow to engage in talks. The greatest pressure since the start of the conflict, he said, has been placed on Russia’s biggest oil corporations via sanctions.
Graham said, “Put pressure on Putin’s customers if you want to end this conflict.”
Trump concurred, stating that Russia’s economy is having difficulties. He said, “The Russian economy is terrible.”
Stopping the carnage is still the first concern, according to both. Regarding the victims, Trump said, “They’re not from America.” They are from Ukraine and Russia. And I would want to stop it if I could.
