Several states across the country are experiencing a severe cold wave and dense fog. Many states in North India, including Uttar Pradesh, are facing biting cold along with thick fog. Considering this, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to extend the winter vacation for students to protect their health. Holidays have been extended until January 8th for students in classes 9th to 12th. Additionally, all schools for classes 1st to 8th will remain closed until January 15th.
No exceptions for schools
The state government has implemented this rule, considering the health of the students, and it applies to all schools affiliated with all boards, including ICSE, CBSE, and UP Board. Action will be taken against schools that do not comply with the rule.
Review on January 8th
The state government will review the weather situation again after January 8th. If the weather improves, schools for classes 9th to 12th may reopen from January 9th. If the weather remains unfavorable, the holidays may be extended further. Schools for classes 1st to 8th are already ordered to remain closed until January 15th. District Magistrates (DMs) can take decisions regarding holidays based on the severity of the cold or fog in their respective districts.
Winter Vacation in other states
Besides Uttar Pradesh, Punjab will also have holidays until January 7th. The winter vacation may be extended if the weather does not improve. In addition, due to the cold wave, schools in the national capital Delhi, and Haryana will remain closed until January 15th.
