Inspired by the Singapore model, the Patna Municipal Corporation has launched a very strict campaign against those who litter in public places. The corporation has decided that such people will not only be fined but will also be publicly identified by being categorized as "enemies of the city."

Now, breaking cleanliness rules in Patna will not only be considered a bad habit but a direct social crime. To instill fear in those who dirty the city and to create awareness among others, let's tell you who will be called "enemies of the city" and how much fine will be collected.

Who will be called "enemies of the city"?

Now, those who spread filth in the capital of Bihar will not be spared. According to the Patna Municipal Corporation, any person caught spitting on the road, footpath, park, government office, or any public place will be considered an "enemy of the city." But the action will not end there. The corporation has decided that pictures of those who litter will be displayed on large VMD screens installed in the city.

This is how much the fine will be

Individuals declared "enemies of the city" in Patna will also be fined ₹500 on the spot. This means that now, breaking the rules will not only cost you money but also tarnish your image. The municipal corporation believes that when people are publicly identified, it will create pressure to change their habits. This step has been taken especially for those areas that have become red spots due to spitting and littering.

24-hour surveillance with smart city cameras

The backbone of this entire campaign will be Patna's Integrated Command and Control Center. More than 3300 CCTV cameras have been installed at approximately 415 locations in the city. All these cameras are connected to the control room located at Gandhi Maidan. Digital surveillance will be maintained at all times on roads, intersections, flyovers, and crowded areas. As soon as a person is caught on camera spitting or littering, they will be identified, and the municipal corporation team will be alerted. It will be implemented. According to Animesh Kumar Parashar, MD and Municipal Commissioner of Patna Smart City Limited, this campaign is not only related to the city's beautification but also to public health. Preventing littering will now be done with the help of technology, not just relying on manpower.
