Speaking on the 41-year-old, MacFarlane said: "I spoke with Liam briefly last night, he is really excited about taking the role. He is going to be at Cobham later today so I will catch up with him. I'm leading the game tomorrow and hopefully we can give him the three points."

He added: "The conversation was really brief. We will keep most of that private. I wouldn't be giving him any advice. Liam is a really accomplished coach and has had a wonderful start to his career."
