According to the new guidelines of the Army, an Agniveer cannot marry until he receives the final order of permanent appointment. If an Agniveer marries during this period, he will be excluded from the process of becoming a permanent soldier. Such candidates will neither be able to apply for selection nor participate in any level of recruitment process.
Army told the rules
After this rule came to light, many Agniveers have a question in their mind that how long will they have to wait for marriage. The army has clarified its position on this also. After completion of four years of service, the process of permanent recruitment starts which usually takes 4 to 6 months. Agniveers should not marry during this entire period.
Agniveer Yojana was started in 2022. The service period of the first batch recruited under this scheme is now about to be completed. Between June and July 2026, the four years of service of the first batch of fire fighters will end. About 20 thousand youth participated in this batch.
Will be able to marry after becoming a permanent soldier
Of these, only about 25 percent Agniveers will get the opportunity to join the Indian Army as permanent soldiers. The selection process will be completely based on merit, taking into account various parameters like physical efficiency, written examination, discipline and performance during service. After the end of the service period, firefighters will have to apply separately for permanent recruitment. After this the selection process will be completed. The Army has clearly said that if any Agniveer marries before the release of the final selection list, his candidature will automatically be considered cancelled.
However, those Agniveer who are selected as permanent soldiers will be given full permission to marry after getting appointment. After joining the army permanently, this restriction will end and they will be able to marry as per their wish.
