An official death toll from the US operation has not been disclosed by the Venezuelan government. But according to the nation’s attorney general, three investigators have been assigned to look into what he called the “dozens” of fatalities.

CNN claimed on Sunday that 32 Cuban citizens were killed in the US operation, according to the Cuban authorities.

Rodriguez, who took the oath of office as Nicolas Maduro’s interim successor on Monday, said that Venezuela’s sovereignty held firm in spite of outside pressure.In a televised speech, she said, “Venezuela is not governed by any outside force.”

Her remarks coincided with US President Donald Trump’s announcement on Tuesday that the United States will receive between 30 and 50 million barrels of sanctioned oil from Venezuela’s interim government. According to Trump, the oil would be sold at market value, and he would manage the proceeds to guarantee that both nations would profit.

“I am pleased to announce that the Interim Authorities in Venezuela will be turning over between 30 and 50 MILLION Barrels of High Quality, Sanctioned Oil to the United States of America,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
