Trump: President Donald Trump resumed his criticism of US media organizations and the congressional inquiry into the assault on the Capitol on January 6. He accused the “Unselect Committee” of deceiving the public and ignoring important information.

Speaking at this House GOP member retreat, Trump claimed that his request for calm was not reported by the committee. He repeated the word he thought was disregarded: “Peacefully and patriotically.”

“That was never reported by the Unselect Committee,” Trump said. He said that the phrase “walk or march, peacefully and patriotically to the Capitol” was never covered by the media.

Additionally, Trump reaffirmed his claims that Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House at the time, turned out security assistance before to the assault. He said, “I don’t want the 10,000 soldiers that Nancy Pelosi was offered.”

He said that Pelosi was then seen accepting blame on television. Trump made reference to a documentary about Pelosi’s daughter when he remarked, “She has her mother saying it’s my fault, I should have taken the soldiers.”

Trump said that the charges were not covered by the media. “This was a big story,” he said.

He expanded his critique to include the whole press, charging news outlets with institutionalized prejudice. Trump said, “I received 97% negative stories on one network and 93% on the other.”

Trump said that his election successes showed the media’s waning power. He said, “You understand what that means.” “The media lacks credibility.”

He made fun of press stories that questioned his endurance while discussing his schedule and health. “Donald Trump is slowing down,” he said, citing an untrue media report.

The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal were two of the major publications that Trump specifically criticized for their coverage. He said, “They’ve lost their way.”

The president said that being under continual monitoring had made him more politically tough. Trump made reference to investigations and impeachments when he said, “Nobody ever had to suffer like I did.” During his first tenure, the US Senate twice impeached him and found him not guilty.

The January 6 attack and the congressional inquiry that followed are still hotly debated topics in US politics, with Republicans contesting the committee’s findings and scope and Democrats believing accountability is crucial.

Trump’s political rhetoric has made media credibility a major subject, especially as he runs for office and governs under constant scrutiny from national news outlets.
