Ratna Chakraborty was identified as the deceased.

The woman’s family claims that she had a heart attack on Tuesday while attending the hearing at the Barrackpore No. 1 BDO office.

She was sent to Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Kalyani, Nadia district, as soon as she felt chest trouble, and she died there.

According to her relatives, the old woman’s death was brought on by the stress of being called to the SIR hearing.

The police were also notified after the death. Nevertheless, after the occurrence, no complaint has been filed against anybody.

According to information obtained, the old lady, Ratna Chakraborty, resided in the Nanna neighborhood of Jetia, which is located in the North 24 Parganas district and is part of the Naihati Assembly seat.

She has a grandchild in addition to her son and daughter-in-law. Ratna was given a railway job on humanitarian grounds after her husband passed away.

About three years ago, she resigned from that position. The Election Commission of India recently sent the elderly lady a hearing notice at the SIR hearing phase.

Family sources claim that the notification made it very plain that she would need to appear at the hearing center at the last SIR since her name was not on the 2002 voter list.

It had been requested that the elderly lady bring enough paperwork before the hearing. Ratna therefore showed up to the BDO office for the hearing. She was accompanied by her relatives.

She became ill soon after coming there, according to the family. The old lady was carried to the hospital, but physicians pronounced her dead, so there was nothing they could do to rescue her.

“Even though the elderly woman’s name was not on the revised voter list of 2002, she had submitted the necessary documents to the commission,” the dead woman’s cousin Abhijit Chakraborty told local media. In spite of this, she received a hearing notice from the Election Commission. In addition, a SIR notice was sent to her sick kid. Despite the son’s inability to attend the hearing on Tuesday, the elderly mother showed up to the hearing center in accordance with the regulations. That’s where this event took place. This is due to the dread of the SIR procedure, they said.

Following the event, Naihati Trinamool MLA Sanat Dey, Trinamool Congress Barrackpore MP Partha Bhowmick, and other members sent their condolences to the family of the deceased by visiting the hospital. The relatives of the deceased received assurances of assistance from the Trinamool leadership.
