Both outlets at Millenia Walk and Scotts Square ceased operation on Dec. 31 last year, the company announced on Facebook recently without disclosing the reason for the closure.

The Millenia Walk outlet, PizzaExpress’ newest location, had been operating for less than a year after opening in January 2025. The brand now has two remaining outlets, at Duo Galleria and The Star Vista.

PizzaExpress had earlier shuttered its Holland Village outlet in January 2024 after six years of operations, and subsequently opened a new outlet at The Star Vista in April that year.

Founded in London, PizzaExpress launched its first Singapore outlet at Scotts Square in 2016, according to The Business Times.

The global pizza chain, known for its handcrafted thin-crust pizzas, operates more than 500 restaurants across the U.K., Europe, Hong Kong, India and the Middle East.

In recent years, PizzaExpress has faced financial challenges. In 2020, the company said it would shut 15% of its U.K. restaurants as part of a restructuring to overhaul external debt of around US$993 million.

Its then-owner, Chinese private equity firm Hony Capital, said at the time that it had begun a sale process to seek a new buyer.

Many food and beverage chains in Singapore last year and earlier this year shut down outlets amid declining demand.

Kith Cafe, which had 10 stores at its peak, now has two in operations. Famed American chain Eggslut shut its last local store in February last year, marking its exit from the country.

The list goes on with the withdrawal of Burger & Lobster, Fluff Stack, Flor Patisserie and Keong Saik Bakery, among others.
