Bhopal. Additional Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Higher Education Department, Anupam Rajan himself held a review meeting regarding the portal with the Chairman and members of the Central Board of Studies, which has created 35 professional courses. In the meeting, he directed that mapping of all the currently running professional courses with the Swayam portal should be compulsorily completed by January 15, so that the students studying in these courses can get the benefit of credit.
New courses will be included for student skill development
Additional Chief Secretary Anupam Rajan said that new and other employment-oriented courses conducted on the Swayam portal should be grouped and included, so that the skills of the students develop and they can prove themselves capable in global competition. Along with this, instructions were given to ensure mapping of professional courses as well as all major and minor subjects with the courses of the portal itself.
MP is the leading state in registration of non-technical subjects
It was told in the meeting that Madhya Pradesh has emerged as the leading state in the country in terms of registration in non-technical subjects. Here, about 2 lakh students are registered in the courses of non-technical subjects, which is about 57 percent of the total registration, whereas in technical subjects, about 1.5 lakh students i.e. 43 percent have registered. In the last one year, an increase of more than 350 percent has been recorded in the registration on the Swayam portal in the state, which is believed to be the result of planned and continuous efforts by the Higher Education Department.
The aim is to take the education policy of the Government of India to every section of the society.
Officials informed that SWAYAM i.e. Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds is an ambitious initiative of the Government of India, whose objective is to realize the key principles of education policy – access, equity and quality. Through this platform, the aim has been to reach the best educational resources of the country to every section of the society, especially to the underprivileged students, so that the digital divide can be reduced and more and more students can join the mainstream of the knowledge-based economy.
College arrangements will be better
Additional Chief Secretary Anupam Rajan also gave clear instructions regarding the arrangements in colleges. He stressed on ensuring cleanliness in college campuses, availability of pure drinking water, regular conduct of classes and presence of professors. He said that the process of filling the vacant posts of teachers is in progress and along with this, continuous efforts need to be made to further strengthen the academic system.
