Murals were scratched incorrectly

The special thing is that the murals had simple, black figures of women in different yoga postures, which did not have faces. Their objective was to beautify the city streets and promote health and fitness under the 'Smart City' initiative. This loss was no ordinary vandalism. Specific parts of the figures were targeted and scratched and marked to sexualize the artwork.

In response to public anger, a local resident took the initiative to repair damaged areas of the murals by repainting them himself. The authorities have not yet been able to identify the criminals responsible for the vandalism.

Identification of distorted mentality

Social media users have strongly condemned this act. This has been said to be the result of 'distorted mentality' and 'poor thinking' in the society. This incident has been linked to the larger issue of how women are treated in the country and how they are seen as objects. Many lamented that women are not safe, even in their artistic images painted on public walls.
