Indian ODI team vice-captain Shreyas Iyer is now fully fit to play the first ODI match against New Zealand. In this regard, he has been given the green signal from BCCI’s Center of Excellence on Wednesday. Let us tell you that now his rehab session is over. According to media reports, VVS Laxman, head of BCCI’s Center of Excellence, has also sent an email to Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar regarding this, in which he has informed that Shreyas Iyer’s rehab is now over and he has been released.
Please note that the Indian cricket team is going to play a three-match ODI series against New Zealand. Shreyas Iyer has been chosen as the vice-captain in this series. 31 year old Iyer has been entrusted with this important responsibility. However, it was clearly written in the team’s squad that Iyer’s place in the team would depend on his fitness.
However, recently Shreyas Iyer, playing for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, scored a brilliant half-century against Himachal Pradesh. Iyer had played a tremendous inning of 82 runs and proved his fitness. After this, it was expected that he would be discharged from BCCI’s Center of Excellence and he would be given a chance in the ODI series against India and New Zealand. Now according to the latest update, Shreyas Iyer can be seen on the field in the first ODI match against New Zealand. Let us tell you that the first ODI match against New Zealand will be played on January 11 at Baroda ground.
Please note that Shreyas Iyer was injured in the ODI series played against Australia. Shreyas was injured while fielding in the third ODI against Australia on October 25, after which he was admitted to Sydney hospital, where he was diagnosed with a spleen injury. However, it took him about three months to recover from this. Actually, Shreyas Iyer had suffered a deep injury near the ribs, due to which he had to suffer from the problem of internal bleeding. However, now he is completely fit and ready to take the field.
