Agnivesh Agarwal, son of Vedanta Group Chairman and mining sector veteran Anil Agarwal, died at the age of 49 due to sudden cardiac arrest in New York. Agnivesh was injured in a skiing accident in America and was undergoing treatment at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. According to his family, his health was improving and everything seemed fine before the sudden deterioration in his condition. Aggarwal wrote in a post on X that today is the saddest day of my life. My beloved son Agnivesh left us too soon. He was just 49 years old, healthy, full of life and had many dreams. Following a skiing accident in the US, he was recovering at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. We thought everything was fine now. But fate had other plans, and our son was taken away from us due to sudden cardiac arrest.
Born on June 3, 1976 in Patna, Agnivesh received his education from Mayo College, Ajmer and made a prestigious professional career. His father wrote in his post that he played an important role in the establishment of Fujairah Gold and later earned wide respect in the business world by serving as the chairman of Hindustan Zinc. In his tribute, Aggarwal described his son as a player, musician, leader and remembered his warmth, humility and compassion. The businessman said that despite all his achievements, he remained simple, extremely humane and kind. To me, he was not just my son. He was my friend. Was my pride. Were my world. Vedanta Chairman said that the family is distraught by this loss. He wrote that Kiran and I are broken.

He further said that Agnivesh was not only his son but also his closest friend and greatest pride. Aggarwal also recalled his son's strong belief in India's future and their shared commitment towards social development. Reiterating his personal pledge, he said that he will live a more simple life in the memory of Agnivesh and will dedicate more than 75 percent of his income to social work.
He wrote that we had a common dream that no child should sleep hungry, no child should be deprived of education, every woman should be self-reliant and every young Indian should get meaningful work. I had promised Agni that more than 75 percent of our earnings would be given back to the society. Today I repeat that promise and resolve to live a more simple life. Aggarwal further wrote that son, you will always be alive in our hearts, in our work and in every life that comes in contact with you. I don't know how to walk this path without you, but I will try to carry your light forward.
