The woman shot dead by a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer has been identified as 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, as outrage grows over the fatal incident and protests spread across major American cities.

Good was named by her mother, who spoke to the Minnesota Star Tribune, after officials initially described the victim only as a "middle-aged white woman" who was not believed to be the target of any law enforcement operation.

However, during a press conference addressing the fatal shooting Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed the woman in Minneapolis had been impeding agents with her vehicle for an extended time before the shooting, and designated her a "domestic terrorist."

Shocking video footage of the shooting, which took place on Wednesday morning, shows two ICE agents ordering a woman to exit her vehicle after it was blocking an intersection. As she reverses and begins to turn away, a third agent arrives at the scene and opens fire, with three gunshots clearly audible in videos circulating on social media.

The killing has sparked nationwide anger, with Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey addressed growing crowds, calling for ICE to leave the city altogether.:"We are demanding that ICE leave the city and state immediately," he said. "We stand by our immigrant and refugee communities - know that you have our full support."
