The Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) office on Hill Cart Road in Mallaguri experienced an unexpected fire early on Thursday, according to the police.

Two of the SDO office’s rooms have been totally destroyed due to the fire.

Additionally, a number of government records and computers stored in the two rooms have been destroyed. However, the SDO office was spared a serious catastrophe because to the fire department’s quick response. Security personnel and other residents reportedly saw black smoke rising from a room just after midnight.

The office’s security personnel began putting out the fire right away.

The Fire Department and the Pradhan Nagar Police Station were promptly notified. As soon as the information was received, two fire engines were on the spot.

After a short while, the fire was contained by the firemen. Detailed information about the extent of the fire’s damage is yet unavailable, however.

Documents in the two rooms were consumed by the fire, according to officials at the Fire Department. The cause of the fire is being looked into by the police and fire department.

Shortly after the fire started, SDO Vikas Ruhela raced to the spot. It has been reported that Superintendent of Police (SP) Praween Prakash and Darjeeling District Magistrate (DM) Manish Mishra asked questions about the fire incident. Goutam Deb, the mayor of Siliguri, also asked about the event.

SDO Ruhela said, “Nothing can be said about this fire incident right now.”

“Two fire engines arrived and brought the fire under control,” Siliguri fire station station officer Dharmendra Krishna Roy told local media. At first, the thick smoke made it difficult for us to enter the building. But the fire has been contained. We’ll look into the amount of the damage and the fire’s origin.”
