Cochin: In a surprising discovery, over ₹4.5 lakh in cash was found with a beggar who died following a road accident in Alappuzha, Kerala.

The money was recovered from a container belonging to the man, who was a familiar face in Charummoodu and surrounding areas of Alappuzha. The beggar had been injured in an accident on Monday night and was admitted to a hospital by local residents.

However, he left the hospital on his own without informing anyone. Hospital records identify him as Anil Kishore. On Tuesday morning, Kishore was found dead outside a shop. His body was sent for a post-mortem, and the container found near him was taken to the police station for inspection.

When the container was opened in the presence of local panchayat member Philip Umman, officials were stunned to find it filled with cash totaling over ₹4.5 lakh. Police stated that the collection included banned currency notes and foreign currency.

According to the police, the money had been stored inside plastic tins. Locals mentioned that Kishore used to beg daily for food money, and no one suspected he possessed such a large sum. "Everyone is in shock," said panchayat member Umman. Police confirmed that the money will be handed over to the court, regardless of whether any family members come forward.
