The External Affairs Minister conveyed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cordial greetings to President Macron during their conversation. They also talked about the need for closer strategic coordination between like-minded partners, shifting power balances, and regional security concerns.

“Delighted to call on President @EmmanuelMacron of France today and convey warm wishes of PM @narendramodi,” EAM Jaishankar said on social networking site X. I really value his thoughts on current world events and his enthusiasm for our strategic alliance.

India and France have a long-standing strategic alliance that extends across the Indo-Pacific, renewable energy, civil nuclear cooperation, space, and defense.

With Paris and New Delhi promoting strategic autonomy and rules-based international involvement, officials on both sides have often emphasized the partnership as a stabilizing element in an increasingly multipolar world.

Jaishankar also spoke at the French Ambassadors’ Conference in Paris, discussing the significant shifts influencing world politics and the economy. He emphasized how modern global developments are being driven by commerce, finance, technology, energy, resources, and connectivity, but he also emphasized that shifting national perspectives are now a critical component in how these changes are addressed.

He emphasized the collaboration between France and India as a crucial tenet in advancing strategic autonomy and multipolarity.

Alongside German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, and Polish Deputy Prime Minister Radoslaw Sikorski, Jaishankar attended the inaugural India-Weimar format meeting in Paris earlier on Wednesday.

India’s first participation in the Weimar format, the summit opened a fresh channel for formal communication with major European nations.

“We have been seeing that turbulence in the Indo-Pacific for a number of years. Europe is now facing its own difficult situation, many of which have strategic ramifications. Beyond that, however, there have also been broad advances that have the potential to completely alter the world order. Even if we live in various areas of the globe, Jaishankar said at the meeting that it is very beneficial for us to routinely exchange opinions and discuss judgments.

“France is one of our oldest strategic partners, the first in Europe, and I think that our ongoing dialogue is an important part of nurturing that relationship,” Jaishankar said.
