Sesame oil is best for Abhyanga which is hot in nature and provides warmth to the body in winter. Apart from this, mustard oil or coconut oil can also be used. Warm the oil slightly and massage the entire body.

You can massage these three body parts with oil which is beneficial.

  • Massaging the head with oil strengthens the hair. Headache goes away and mind remains calm. Massaging the scalp with sesame oil reduces the problem of dandruff and dryness.
  • Putting some oil in the ears and lightly massaging them cleans the ears, improves hearing ability and provides relief from problems like ear pain caused by cold. It also helps in better sleep and is also effective in relieving stress.
  • Foot massage is most important. Apply oil on the feet and rub them thoroughly, because there are many acupressure points in the feet. This improves blood circulation of the entire body, relieves fatigue and improves sleep. It also keeps away the problem of cracked feet in winter.

According to experts, Abhyanga is beneficial in winter. This Ayurvedic method is simple, safe and can be done at home. Do Abhyang for 10-15 minutes before taking bath in the morning, then take bath with lukewarm water. With this the body absorbs the oil well. Apart from this, if you practice Abhyanga regularly then the skin remains soft and glowing. It detoxifies the body. Makes joints flexible and increases immunity.
