Shiv Shankar Savita- The political atmosphere is continuously heating up before the elections in Uttar Pradesh. Amidst the ongoing debate regarding voter list and voter security, Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav held an important press conference in Lucknow on Tuesday and made serious allegations against the government and administration. Akhilesh claimed that the voter list is being tampered with in the state and the administrative machinery is being used in favor of the ruling party. In the press conference, Akhilesh Yadav said that the SIR (Special Intensive Revision) process going on in the state is being done in a completely wrong way. He raised the question why this work is being done by the officials of the Home Department, whereas it should be the responsibility of the Election Commission. The SP chief alleged that the government is sending officials to increase votes by about 200 at every booth and FIR will be lodged where BJP creates irregularities.
His life is lost in one tweet – Akhilesh Yadav
Akhilesh Yadav also said that Samajwadi Party has prepared a format of FIR for all BLOs (Booth Level Officers), in which complaint can be lodged in the police station by just filling the name. When he was asked what further steps would be taken if the FIR was not registered, he gave a sharp reply saying that “one tweet can cost him his life” and besides, the court was also open to him. Akhilesh Yadav also cornered the government on the issue of women’s safety. Referring to an incident in Meerut, he alleged that people associated with BJP were involved in it, hence no action is being taken. He said that the security of daughters and women in the state is very weak and the crime statistics reflect this truth. Akhilesh also alleged that Ramji Suman was stopped from attending his program, which raises the question as to what the government is trying to hide.
Chief Minister’s words raise doubts – Akhilesh Yadav
Akhilesh Yadav made a big allegation regarding the conspiracy to steal votes and said that officials of many departments were involved in the SIR process. He said that even before the draft voter list came, the Chief Minister had talked about cutting four crore votes, which in itself raises doubts. The SP chief claims that this entire process is a conspiracy to cut the votes of the PDA (Backward, Dalit and Minority) community and increase the votes of his own party. Akhilesh Yadav said that a big difference has emerged in the voter list of the State Election Commission and the Election Commission of India. He claimed that in cities like Meerut and Lucknow there has been massive vote suppression and lakhs of voters have gone missing from the list. According to the SP chief, 2.89 crore votes were deducted under SIR, while 40 lakh votes were added at the Panchayat level, which makes the entire process controversial.
