Sadhguru Riteshwar Maharaj has taken a strong stance on the issue of sloganeering in Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus. He said that the Constitution applies equally to everyone and no one is above it.

Sadhguru Riteshwar Maharaj said that anyone who acts beyond the limits of the Constitution has to face its consequences, whether he is a student of JNU or a person associated with any ashram. Sadhguru Riteshwar Maharaj clarified that the Constitution applies equally to everyone and no one is above it.

While talking to the media, Sadhguru Riteshwar Maharaj said that if any unconstitutional activity takes place in his Sri Anandam Ashram, then responsibility cannot be avoided just by saying that he is a spiritual guru.

He said that they also come under the ambit of the Constitution and wherever there is action against the Constitution, whether it is done by a student, a saint or a common citizen, strict action should be taken against it under the law. Not following constitutional rules is not acceptable for anyone.

On the issue of Hindu Rashtra, Sadhguru Riteshwar Maharaj said that our sages and great thinkers had long ago established that this land is linked to Sanatan traditions. India’s approximately 140 crore population has been traditionally nurtured by eternal values.

These values are clearly visible in the conduct, customs and rituals of the people. He claimed that these traditions have never changed and hence there is no need to declare a separate Hindu nation, as it has been a Sanatan nation by nature.

He further said that religious stories like Shri Ram Katha, Shri Krishna Katha, Hanuman Katha, Shiv Mahapuran Katha and Devi Bhagwat Katha have been going on for centuries and they introduce people to their purity, culture and religion. In this sequence, the thought came to his mind that only if the nation remains safe, everything will remain safe. For the unity, integrity and security of the nation, why not organize ‘Rashtra Katha’, so that people can be made aware of the glorious history of the country.

He told that through ‘Rashtra Katha’ it will be told why India was called the golden bird before the tenth century, how the country was looted and how inferiority complex was instilled in the minds of the people. According to him, this inferiority complex persists even today, because the education policy of the country has not yet changed completely and even today we are largely under the influence of Lord Macaulay’s education policy.

Sadhguru Riteshwar Maharaj said that Prime Minister Modi announced from the ramparts of the Red Fort that Macaulay’s education policy will be completely abolished in the next ten years. In such a situation, ‘Rashtra Katha’ is very important for students and common citizens, especially for those who are not aware of the history and pride of their country.

He said that today many people have become so attracted towards western civilization that they have lost pride and feelings towards their country and the aim of ‘Rashtra Katha’ is to change this thinking.
