Harmanpreet Kaur, Nat Sciver-Brunt equal Meg Lanning's record with fifties vs Delhi Capitals in WPL 2026

New Delhi: Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and star all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt slammed half-centuries apiece in their side’s clash against Delhi Capitals (DC) in theWomen’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 on Saturday, January 10. Harmanpreet and Nat Sciver equalled Meg Lanning’s record for most fifty-plus scores in WPL history with their fifties against the Capitals at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

Sciver-Brunt slammed a quickfire 70 off 46 balls, while Harmanpreet smashed a blistering knock of an unbeaten 74 off 42 balls to power the Mumbai Indians to a strong total of 195/4 in 20 overs while batting first against the Delhi Capitals. Both Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet now have nine fifty-plus scores in the WPL, the joint-most alongside Lanning.

Sciver-Brunt bounced back among the runs after a blip in MI’s opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Friday. The England star came out to bat at no.3 after the Mumbai Indians lost opener Amelia Kerr cheaply on a duck and added 49 runs for the first wicket with young G Kamalini, who scored 16 off 19 balls.

Sciver-Brunt then combined with skipper Harmanpreet to share an important 66-run stand for the second wicket to set the stage for a strong total for the defending champions. After Sciver-Brunt’s departure, Harmanpreet combined with Nicola Carey (21) to add 53 runs for the 4th wicket and lift MI to 195/4 in 20 overs. The MI skipper’s 42-ball 74 was laced with 8 fours and three sixes.

MI looking for first win in WPL 2026

Mumbai Indians will be looking to bag their first win of the tournament by successfully defending 195 runs against Delhi Capitals after losing a thriller against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their opener on Friday. MI lost their opening game by 3 wickets after Nadine de Klerk smashed an unbeaten 63 off 44 balls, including 20 runs in the final against Sciuver-Brunt to take RCB over the line in a last-ball thriller at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

Defending champions Mumbai Indians are without their star all-rounder Hayley Matthews at the start of the tournament, as she is nursing a shoulder injury.
