If you're looking for some winter sun, you can't miss out on this destination that's one of the best to visit in January. The Canary Islands are home to a range of stunning beaches, with one lesser-visited spot being called a "hidden gem."
La Gomera in Spain, is known for its scenic landscapes and warm weather. On the island, a Heineken beer costs just €1.20 (£1.04) and it is set to be 21C next week, reports The Sun. Most people visit the island for its quiet and peaceful scenery. If you enjoy hiking, it's a popular place for walkers who want to get out into nature and enjoy a more adventurous holiday.
The island is the second smallest in the Canaries meaning it's not a major tourist destination.
One must-visit spot while you're there is Goranjay National Park. A visitor on Tripadvisor said: "Took many stops through this national park. Firstly we stopped at the visitor centre which was great, it included a very interesting visitor centre, a historic house museum and a few viewpoints over the national park.
"It was a very scenic drive on the winding roads. We then stopped at La Laguna Grande where the is a recreational area, a restaurant and some hiking trails.
"We then carried on to perhaps the highlight of the national park, the Roque de Agando. It may sound just like a forest, but it's a beautiful forest with many viewpoints, hiking trails and fun things to do."
According to Relocate to Spain, the formation of La Gomera is deeply rooted in its volcanic origins, a characteristic shared by many of the Canary Islands.
It says that its volcanic activity shaped the island millions of years ago, resulting in the dramatic cliffs and valleys that define its landscape today.
If you're hoping to enjoy a break to this pretty island, you might be wondering how to get there.
While La Gomera has an airport, it is only for flights between the islands. This means that, to get here from Europe, you'll have to change flights in Tenerife or Gran Canaria.
For some winter sun, this is an island that can't be missed.
