X Admits Lapses, Deletes Over 600 Accounts After Government Action on Grok Obscene Content

X closed 600 accounts and deleted 3,500 posts

Grok obscene AI content: Social media platform The company has said that such content will be removed immediately. Also, if any user creates objectionable content using Grok, the same action will be taken against him as for directly uploading illegal content. That means the account of such users will be banned permanently.

X has implemented the new rules three days after the Indian government raised objections. On January 2, the Central Government had asked X to immediately remove the obscene and vulgar content being created through AI app Grok, otherwise legal action would be taken.

In fact, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on Friday had expressed concern over the misuse of AI chatbot Grok. He wrote a letter to the IT Minister, saying that some people are changing real photographs of women into objectionable forms with the help of AI, which is a very serious matter.

Earlier on Saturday, X owner Elon Musk had said that some people are saying that Grok is making objectionable pictures. But he described it as an example of blaming the pen for writing something bad. The pen does not decide what will be written; It is decided by the person who uses it.

Musk said that Grok also works similarly. What you get depends largely on what you input into it. It is not the tool that is responsible for this, but the person using it.

misuse of women’s photos

Some users create fake accounts on social media platform X and post pictures of women from these accounts. Grok AI is then instructed (prompt) to show these photos as objectionable and inaccurate.

AI is often given prompts to change the clothing in photos or to present them in a sexual context. No permission is taken from women for these photographs, and many times they themselves do not even know that their photographs are being used in this way. The allegation is that Grok accepts such false prompts instead of preventing them.
